QotD: I Made A Difference

When did you really get to make a difference for someone else?
Submitted by bodhibound.

… for the good? Wow. Um. Huh. I… held open an elevator door for people carrying groceries today.

Yeah, I know. Weak.

Is it too lame to hope that I might have made a difference for someone (for the good) and just didn't realize it? That something that, in my mind, was really little but actually helped them? I'd like to think that.

I'd also like to think there are hundreds more women looking at themselves naked in the mirror and smacking their asses, proclaiming themselves "a damn fine piece of beef" but that's probably in vain as well.

"That something that, in my mind, was really little but actually helped them? I'd like to think that." I was thinking that, too. I want to believe it's happened, but I can't speak for other people. Good job, you.

I don't think that's lame, I'm sure there are little things we do all the time and they still make a difference even though they are little. Also, what might be "little" to us could be huge for someone else.

I like the question but it just seems a little too much like "I have to keep track! I mean, how will I know I'm doing good if I don't keep track?!" And that's just not my thing.
I hold a door open which might keep someone on time so that they can get something accomplished and might do good for other people. Or maybe I cracked a joke that helped lighten someone's mood so that they're more able to face the stuff they have to face in a day.
I think YOU help me out all the time. Your spirit really shows through your posts and really calms me down, makes me laugh or helps me learn.

It does for retailers! You're helping them SURVIVE for another year!

(((AngieK))) And you changed your profile picture! I almost didn't recognize who you were until I took a closer look and recognized your cute little boy.

Oh, that's neat. You do something for me. You distill certain thoughts and observations, and make them tangible. I'm so abstract sometimes, it's good to have that around.

It's the little things in life that matter most. Good job!
